Summary:
The Massachusetts Green High Performance Computing Center is a 90,000 sf data center serving 5 major universities and 2 private companies. This facility is a green computing facility with low energy consumption which will support a 10 year growth and up to 600 racks with 10 MW of computing power. The Project is comprised of: (3) 800 ton chillers with space for (1) future 800 ton, (3) 800 ton cooling towers, (2) hot water boilers, (174) in-row cooling units, hydronic specialties and air handling equipment. The project incorporated green and sustainable building techniques and obtained a “LEED Platinum Certification”. Included in the mechanical systems are: higher operating temps on data floor (reducing cooling requirements), use of free cooling (canal water) and 400 volt operating voltage to reduce electrical losses.
