Scope:
Grodsky has worked with Baystate Noble Hospital on major Design-Build projects on their boiler plant and hospital.
Boiler Plant:
On the boiler plant project, Grodsky acted as the construction manager and worked with the electrician, chemical feed vendor and general trades to upgrade the electrical service to the facility, install new flooring throughout the boiler room and a state-of-the-art treatment system.
The project occurred during the winter months. A temporary gas-fired boiler was installed and piped to heat the hospital while the new boilers were under construction. Grodsky coordinated electrical, natural gas, and heating shutdowns within the fully functional hospital with smooth transitions. This project required an immense amount of communication with the facilities personnel for this highly sensitive project.
Pharmacy:
The pharmacy project required the installation of two dedicated air handlers, three exhaust fans, two electric humidifiers, one steam humidifier, a completely new duct system and seven sinks.
The sanitary system (and a portion of the domestic water system) was demolished and reconstructed in occupied areas on the floor immediately below the construction site. One portion of the occupied space impacted by the new construction was the highly secure existing pharmacy below the new location.
Field coordination was vital in the success of the project. Constant communication was required between the users, facility staff, general contractor and Grodsky.
