HVAC and Plumbing. Six-story glass stack showcase and three underground levels.

Summary:

Grodsky worked with Shawmut Design & Construction on this unique project consisting of full mechanical and plumbing upgrades to one of the world’s largest rare book libraries. Grodsky and our subcontractors worked diligently together to provide the Beinecke library with top quality systems designed for longevity and ease of use.

Unique Features:

One of the largest challenges was rigging the new equipment, piping and ductwork through a 6’ x 7’ hatch and into the mechanical rooms located 3 stories below ground. Temperature and humidity were key factors when dialing in the new equipment, as these are the most important factors to preserving the books and manuscripts.
